About Us
Nazareth Hospital, Shillong owned by the Archdiocese of Shillong was
started in 1959 as an out patient treatment centre by the
Missionaries of Christ Jesus, Spain. Indoor facilities were
added with 60 beds and began to function as hospital in 1965.
Since then it was on the spiral of developments and progress
increasing the bed strength and adding more facilities. Rapsbun
School of Nursing was established and administered by the sisters of the
Congregation of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, in a small way with 10 students
in GNM course in 1979. The administration of the hospital
with bed strength 180, and the nursing school was handed over to the
Sisters of the Holy Cross, Kottiyam, Kerala in 1988

Our mission
To provide holistic and comprehensive care to the sick who comes to our care.
Treat them with dignity, compassion, sensitivity and high standard of
professionalism, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or social status.
As a catholic health care institution we commit ourselves to protect,
preserve and nurture life with specific attention to women and children,
upholding the moral and spiritual values. With this vision for mission the
hospital has expanded its out reach program with
regular home visits, health education in hygiene and nutrition and
antenatal clinic to improve the quality of life. Diploma Course in
Medical Laboratory technology with 2 years duration and six months
internship Under CMAI Vellore, and BSc MLT lateral entry under Martin
Luther University exclusively for the Tribal girls to empower them.

Objective
Our aim is to maintain our institution as a haven of loving care,
concern, professional and technological competence by fulfilling
the expectation of the patients and the community.
To achieve this we follow the these strategies,
- Provide the optimum professional and supportive services in a
friendly, homely and clean atmosphere at an affordable cost.
- Strive always to maintain professional and technological excellence.
- Teach and implement financial savings to improve the standard of living
of our employs.
- Give special attention to the poor and illiterate villagers.
- Improve the health status of the village community by home visits,
community health camps and health teaching in nutrition and hygiene.

Quality Policy
Nazareth hospital is committed to provide holistic, preventive, curative and
rehabilitative health care to its clients and community through the optimum care,
availability and efficiency. It has avowed to keep up to date with the advancing
science and technology, by continuing medical education, developing skill in the
areas of professional and supportive services by regular seminars, workshops and
clinical meetings.
To reach the goal the institution would endeavor the following :
- To make available for all patients maximum patient care and quality professional service.
- To maintain a calm and serene atmosphere building confidence and friendliness.
- To equip all the staff with respective skill and knowledge.
- Give special attention to the poor and illiterate villagers.
- To coordinate and cooperate with the Central and State Govt. in health care
delivery system like pulse polio and NRHM program, and the exigencies of
epidemics and natural calamities.
