Nazareth Hospital from its inception had extension services to many interior villages, conducting clinics, immunization, health education on nutrition and hygiene. Today it has developed into a full fledged community health department extending its services to ten villages, both urban and rural. The department conducts weekly home visits, clinics, immunization, health education special clinics for antenatal and children under five, focusing on preventive and promotive aspects. During the outbreak of diseases and natural calamities in the community, the department extends its services. It also works in collaboration with State Government in Universal Pulse Polio, and DOT program. It gives practical and theoretical training to MSW students of IGNOU, Deacons of Orient's Theological College(Mawlai, Shillong), Nursing students of Rapsbun School of Nursing, and training of village Dhai, community health workers and Animators. The departments also undertakes the development of health and sanitation by sanctioning a project of building sanitary latrines in Mawkasiang, as a model village.
