Nazareth Hospital from its inception had extension services to many
interior villages, conducting clinics, immunization, health education
on nutrition and hygiene. Today it has developed into a full fledged
community health department extending its services to ten villages,
both urban and rural. The department conducts weekly home visits,
clinics, immunization, health education special clinics for antenatal
and children under five, focusing on preventive and promotive aspects.
During the outbreak of diseases and natural calamities in the community,
the department extends its services.
It also works in collaboration with State Government in Universal
Pulse Polio, and DOT program. It gives practical and theoretical training to
MSW students of IGNOU, Deacons of Orient's Theological College(Mawlai, Shillong),
Nursing students of Rapsbun School of Nursing, and
training of village Dhai, community health workers and Animators.
The departments also undertakes the development of health and sanitation by
sanctioning a project of building sanitary latrines in Mawkasiang, as a model village.
