The department was started in August 1994. It renders emergency services to the
trauma cases involving the limbs and spines. It also attends to the elective
cases in the OPD. Shillong being a hill station, there are very less cases of
high velocity trauma.
The surgeries that we do are the total hip arthroplasty, hemi artroplasty of the hip
(Bipolar and Austin Moore prosthesis), the dynamic hip screw and dynamic condylar screws
fixaion, the inter locking nailing, the locking plate fixation, external fixators application,
surgical correction of the club fet, artrodesis and excision arthroplasty and the routine
compression plating.
