Range of Surgery
This department attends to all sorts of Emergency as well
as elective cases. The following is a short overview of the
types of surgery which are carried out in this hospital:
Neonatal Surgery : Tracheo-oesophageal Fistula repair,
congenital diaphragmatic hernia, neonatal management of ano-rectal
malformations, meningomyelocoele and emergency management of other
congenital defects, excluding cardiac surgery.
Other Paediatric Surgery : Cleft lip and Palate, elective surgery
for ano-rectal malformations and Hirschprung's disease, and other
common paediatric conditions, excluding orthopaedic surgery and
neurosurgery which are handled by the speciality department, and
cardiac surgery which is not available.
Adult General Surgery : Includes oesophageal and pancreatic surgery,
among other general surgical conditions. Gallstones are very common
in this area and account for a large percentage of the surgery,
laparoscopic as well as open surgery.
